Living as a minority in any country poses its challenges, and for Nigerians abroad, each glimpse of positivity from our homeland is cherished.

With immense pride, Nigerians both at home and abroad celebrate the remarkable achievements of the Nigerian football team, the Super Eagles, in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON24) tournament. As we gear up for tomorrow's (11/02/2024) final against Ivory Coast, anticipation runs high.

It's been 11 years since we last made it to the AFCON Finals. Nigeria boasts three AFCON titles, clinched in 1980, 1994, and 2013, while the Ivory Coast Elephants have claimed the championship twice, in 1992 and 2015. With such a history, tomorrow's match promises a spectacle of skill and mutual respect on the pitch, not to mention the vibrant display of colors—green for Nigeria and orange for Ivory Coast—amongst passionate supporters from both sides.

This final isn't just about football; it's about national pride. Nigeria has been dominating the online space, with hashtags trending on YouTube and Instagram, showcasing our vocal comedians and artists exchanging witty banter and spirited lyrics, particularly directed towards the countries we've triumphed over. Meanwhile, for Ivory Coast, playing in front of their home crowd adds an extra layer of pressure, making defeat almost inconceivable.

Here at ESWA, we wholeheartedly support the Super Eagles and hope for a resounding victory.

Regardless of the outcome however, we extend a massive thank you to the team for making Nigeria proud once again.

As we eagerly await the final showdown, let's take a moment to immerse ourselves in the spirit of the tournament with the theme song, "LET'S DO IT AGAIN" (#AFCON2024 THEME SONG).
